According to the Dogan news agency, the plane’s left engine caught fire after it took off. The crew made an emergency landing.
According to the Anadolu news agency the aircraft was en route from Istanbul to Doha, Qatar.
Qatar Airways said that their plane was forced to make an emergency landing at Ataturk airport, Istanbul on Thursday and the passengers can get off safely.
“Today’s flight QR240 from Ataturk airport, Istanbul towards Doha has returned to Istanbul and landed safely. The passengers all descended normally and pilot implement security procedures fly applied by QR,” said a statement issued by the airline company Gulf.
